The seem to wear black, have black hair and do their makeup black. Why?

Not all do, but it seems like the majority do. Is is just a peer pressure thing. Do they just want to fit in?

  1. Wiccans do not wear black.

There is a fashion trend called Gothic that attracts some kids.  The Goth world follows a kind of fake witchcraft and somewhat interested in Satanism, for the rebellious nature of the movement.  They are rebelling against their parents and the church.

There is no Satan in witchcraft (Wicca.)  It is a very gentle religion that teaches "1st do no harm."  That, interestingly enough is the first words in the Hippocratic oath, and it connects the pre-Christian origins of medicine to the art of healing that is connected to the craft.

  2. They wear it for the fearless ones whose bad trip left them cold

It is a colour of indefinability

  3. they don't (wiccans anyway). are you talking about goths?

  4. Hi , im a wiccan and i find your post a little insulting. Why should any women stop wearing whatever color she wants just to please men? how pretentious ! this kind of question does not make me want to give you an explanation of why we do so, when you are feeling less stereotypical go to the internet and do your own research!

  5. Peer pressure, trying to make a statement, attention getting.....everyone has a right to look, and dress whatever way they please.....but....I think it makes them look more foolish than anything. Satanism is WRONG!

  6. Black, to some, signifies darkness beyond the sun; the absence of light. Absence of light is darkness. Darkness = Evil. That is the logic that most people live by. I'm not saying it's right, that's just the way people perceive thing.

You may check the link below to see what different colours mean in different aspects. The ultimate point is as to whether you see it as a 6 or a 9.

  7. there is a certain significance of black, which is a social construct. these groups feel that the values, the viewpoints they stand by are best represented by the meaning attached to black (death, darkness, violence, mystery, evil, fear, unknown, danger etc).

once  a person joins such a group (irrespective of the reasons - belief, trend, whatever) they need to adhere to its values, beliefs and to the behaviour expectations. so, they wear what everyone wears, they do what everyone in the group does and so on. it's part of integrating in a group.

the number of people who do this - wear black, in your case - depend on the trend. look at the "emo" trend, it's a very good example. (the pattern is the same for all), basically the emerging trends offers answer to a particular need in a demographic group, and the ideas are adopted because of that

  8. im wicca and alot of us where black in a s**y way but i think ur talken about the more goth type in well black is just a way to make a statment like any other thing we all do i where black but im not tackie with it i dont over do it most people who do r witchcraft in witch could b the dark side. then ur goths witch r just well who knows. but i can c what ur talken about. i where alot of other colors to. its also a billborad for depression n missery

  9. Ask Auschwitz, the guy whose "questions" keep getting deleted.

  10. This is NOT true. I am a wiccan/pagan the people that you are talking of are 'goths' who are just followiung it to be cool and fashionable. If anything, pagans are more into red, purple and white as these are more spiritual clothes.

As a proper pagan I get fed up of people latching onto some cos it makes them 'individuals'

  11. i have black hair...wear black makeup ( eyeshadow...liner) and i wear black..

but im not a witch or a satanist.

    im a christian.

also im not trying to fit in with anyone...im too old to try and " fit in" im just more comfortable like this.

but i do not dress like that always...but i do tend towards more darker things...black...darker blues...reds..purples...dark jewel tones...stuff like that.

and yes i also have the typical very pale skin too.

i guess you would call me...goth...more or less.

by the way..black to me does not mean evil...or darkness...it means protection. you are less likely to be bothered when wearing black.

  12. Why, because it has a slimming effect , of course.

  13. There the bad witches, good ones wear white.
