There are sayings that go "what goes around comes around", and "do unto others as you would like done unto you".

So why do gossips flip out when others bad mouth them?

  1. They're insecure...

  2. Because they are petty and want to feel better by degrading others. People who gossip are low in self esteem...although if we were all totally honest you have to admit..we all like to hear the gossip at times!  :)))  It helps us re evaluate our own lives and we learn by experience even if it is others experiences.

  3. I've always thought it to be that gossip is just about misunderstood speculation and dragging situations to their most elastic extent.

Obviously gossips care about others' public images, and somehow use it to mask their own insecure view of themselves. They inflate someone else to make up for their lack of self-esteem and any true confidence.

  4. gossip is a form of control (at its worst), which is used to make someone feel superior to someone else.  If someone responds.. they lose the sense of controlling others. though negative or false information.

And.. by the way.. thank you.. I have been looking for 7 yrs for the words to say to a gossip who has hurt me and my family.  Your question triggered what I need to tell her.
