Why do people who wear contacts do this......?

Ok, so I know 4 girls who wear contacts, some colored and some not... however I noticed they are always opening up their eyes so wide, that it looks unnatural... I really don't know why they do this.... I'm planning to get contacts to correct my vision, but seriously, will I have those wide "cat eyes" after I wear them? thanks!

  1. ha i never noticed that..I wear contacts and I guess I do that randomly. It depends..sometimes it may be because something gets on it so we're trying to see if air will get it off, or maybe it slid off to the side so we're trying to get it back center on our eye again, or it might be too dry and we're trying to let the air moisturize it

  2. Dont know why, I dont think I do that (Well I hope not). Maybe they are a bit uncomfortable or dry.

  3. Contact lenses either block (conventional lense) or slow down (gas permeable lense) oxygen flow from direct contact with air.

Hence they (the 4 girls you mentioned) are probably trying to get more oxygen so their cornea cells can breath in xoygen they lack from wearing contacts.

  4. That sounds strange. I have very lazy looking eyes and I wear contacts. I wouldn't worry about it if you're thinking about getting them.

  5. Yes, I wear contacts and I notice that too. My eyes look 'blank' and larger because of the contacts in them.

People say my eyes look so intense like that and scary...

I can't seem to stop that look but I think it's because your eyes look larger, if that's what you're asking.

  6. they might be getting dry.

  7. No, you won't be doing that.  Just follow instructions on the use of them.  Wet them sometimes if they feel dry.  Keep them clean.  Take them out at night.

I wear hard contacts, but my partner wears soft ones like most people.  And his get dry, but he carries around solution, as I do.

  8. Sometimes the contacts move out of the center of your eye, naturally.  Not anything crazy, just enough that your vision may be slightly blurry, or if they are colored contacts, enough to see the colored edge.   If your eyes are dry and you have been rubbing them or messing with them, then this may make it happen more often.  If you open your eyes wide (briefly) then it makes them move back into place.  They may also do it as a way to try to get their eyes to naturally hydrate if they are too dry.

Now if they keep them open like that for a very long time--I could only guess that they are trying to look like Bratz dolls thinking it's s**y.  But, it's likely a comfort/hydration thing.
