I know a boy who has bipolar disorder and he is excellent in math..by excellent I mean BRILLIANT and all in all he knows a lot of stuff.his generel knowledge is very good..I guess he reads a lot lol

For some reason, people with mental illnesses/bipolar are usually gifted in some sense.

people who have this kinda disorder seem to be at least really talented for whatever..for example famous painters or musicians (who have bipolar)

I am unipolar actually (major depressive disorder) and we do not seem to be gifted with that kind of intelligence ;D

thanx

  1. I know a few bipolars that I wouldn't term as gifted at all. I think it just depends on how many people you meet. On average, they're gonna be average.

  2. UNIPOLAR PEOPLE OF THE WORLD... UNITE!

  3. I think its because people with bipolar disorder are usually so intelligent that everything is easy for them and there are no challenges, since they can figure everything out and therefore life becomes boring and depressing

  4. I don't know, but maybe it's because they spend a significant amount of time in the level of neuronal excitement which would not be manic but is still higher than average. For more information on mania and also a supplement which might help bring up the level of excitement in your neurons read: http://www.oasisadvancedwellness.com/pro...

  5. Intelligence is an ability, Bipolar disorder is a disability, but not all disabilities make people completely disabled. People seem to think that because someone has a mental disability, they are completely disabled altogether. This is not true and it is not fair to those people.

My uncle's friend is an architect but he has depression. The depression bears no weight on his ability of architectural design that hardly anyone else has. So a disability makes someone disabled in a certain area, but it doesn't make them disabled altogether.

By the way, no one is completely mentally stable. It's a common saying that if everyone in the entire world were to see a psychiatrist, at least 99% if not all 100% would be diagnosed with some kind of mental disorder to at least some degree.

  6. I have often wondered that myself. It is almost like a lower grade of mad genius. Someone should do some research to see if bipolar people are able to use a part of their brain that others aren't or if chemical embalances could be to blame.

  7. Yeah there is a connection. Often people who have a chemical unbalance in their brains are clever or talented, not sure why. You're right about musicians, quite a few of them seem to be bipolar. Kurt Cobain was.  I think bipolar makes them creatively gifted, maybe because they have really strong feelings of lows or highs.
