  1. Because our society does not condemn the bullying of people who are different. Media shows portray positively the ongoing low-grade teasing, and teachers and parents often say that it is important for character development. Gentle teasing often escalates into hard bullying , and no one draws the line early enough.

  2. I don't know but my brother suffered from it in school when they wouldnt do anything he did. He was expelled for choking a boy with his own necklace after a teasing episode... These kids need to have a close eye kpet on them from teachers but unfortunately SOME teachers think it is also funny..

  3. I once taught a high school boy with aspergers.  He had a very quick and explosive temper.  Other students like to see the poor kid explode so they teased him.  Not sure if this is typical of aspergers kids or not.

  4. People with AS have several characteristics which lead to their being teased:

    1) poor understanding of social cues, so they don't understand if something's a joke or not

    2) poor understanding of social situations, so they may jump into a conversation unwelcomed, or stay out & act shy

    3) a high interest in one or two topics of conversation, that they go on at length about, not knowing that others don't share that interest & others get bored & then tease them

    4) poor physical coordination & clumsiness so bad at playing playground games & sports

    5) often high IQ's, so they may be one or more years younger than peers in classes & be immature
