  3. It has been proposed that there are such things as "mirror neurons". These are neurons in your frontal cortex that are designed to activate the same regions of the brain when you perceive someone doing an action, such as yawning. Mirror neurons are also part of the learning process, especially in language development. As a child, you have no way of understanding what other people are saying or speaking in a coherent language because you haven't learned it yet. These mirror neurons help the developing baby to basically imitate the sounds that the people around them make, trying to form words and eventually be able to communicate coherently with others.
