Why do peple/hunters only eat wild rabbits in late fall & winter?

  3. Because they are pretty scrawny in the spring.  Also, need to give the new spring litters a chance to grow and be independent.  You wouldn't want to kill a mother still caring for babies.

  4. Rabbit are best fed in the fall, and some varieties change to white just before the snow comes (easy to find) or stay brown until after the first snowfall.

    i have often managed to fill the freezer just as the varying hare is about to turn white or just after they change to white.

    They do not appear to realize they stand out against the background so stay stationary ready to be shot,
