Why do photos take up alot of memory in iPods?

I mean come on, I put 28mb worth of photos in my iPod Touch and it tells me that it took up 125mb!

What gives?

uh you probably have a problem with the photos, the same thing happens with songs, just try re-saving them checking the original file size, then put them back on

there is a minimum file size if these are 8k pictures the will each take up  the minimum file size of 64k or 128 depending on which ipod you have.

this is the same with all hard disk systems.

you sounds like you have thousands of small file size photo's plus ipod retain an uallocated space of a few MB as well for indexes.
