  1. all  birds do it

  2. because they have secret pair of headphones, and are listening to Heavy Metal Music as they walk, they are not bobbing their heads, they are headbanging!

  3. it's part of their anatomy. the neck muscles and the leg muscles are connected.

  4. This pigeon asked me the other day why humans swing their hands when they walk when they can keep their wings perfectly still when they are walking. I had no answer. Do you? We lamas also move our heads forward when we walk so as to make our body follow it.

  5. they r geeks!!!

  6. Because they agree with you.

  7. LOL...i love this question....my brother does a really funny impression of them...but i don't know why...maybe they have inbuilt headphones and they're headbanging to music...lol

awwww...seems someone beat me to this idea above...lol

  8. I often wondered this, and I only just recentl;y found out the answer.

Thinking about it, I can't rememebr the whole answer.... bother. But its something like this, pigeons (and chickens, probably other birds too) have trouble focusing on things when their head is moving. This is a problem when they're walking, so what they do is hold their head still and then jerk it forward, to keep it still for a maximum amount of time.

Watch a pigeon's head next time you see one and you'll see it stays still even when the body is moving forward and then suddenly jerks to catch up again.

    Hope that helped :)
