  1. Magic. They cover the wings with little (so small as to be almost invisible except with and electron microscope) air hooks. Depending upon the performance parameters of the plane will depend upon the shape and number of hooks. Also the air has something to do with it. Any older pilot will tell you that bright sunny daylight air has more lifties in it than does dark moonless night air.

  2. Because they're too big to drive on the roads.

  3. Because people want to pay money to ride in them.

  4. I am assuming your asking 'how' do airplanes fly? If you want to know 'why' they fly; its because they are a fast way of transportation over the earth known to man and lots of people depend on it.

Anyways, an airplane flies based on a law name Bornuilli's Principle. His principle states that when air is forced to travel faster it has lower pressure. Now the wings are desingned to speed up the air as it flows over the wing, therefore, making lower pressure than below the wing. This high pressure below the wing wants to balance out with the lower pressure above the wing, therefore it pushes the wing out of its way. This is a continuous action, that makes the airplane stay airbourne. It flies level or descend when the pilot make control movements to the Eleveator ( Horizontal wing on the Tail) to reduce the pressures on the wings and tail.

I hope that explain the basics (Step 1) to how and airplane becomes airbourne.

  5. The same reason birds fly. It's a faster way of transportation  : )

  6. because the engines puch air out of the wings, and the wings are deisnged so the air has to travel fast aboove the wing, keeping the plane a float

  7. what do you want them to do......crash?

  8. because they cant afford to pay the toll on motorways.

  9. for fun

  10. Because they can't swim.

  11. Because clever engineers make 'em that way

  12. The shape of the wing makes air move faster over the top than underneath.  This makes a pressure difference strong enough to lift the wing, and the rest of the airplane is attached.

You can do the same thing with your hand out a car window.  It's not big enough to lift the car that way, but you'll feel the lifting force.
