Why do poker sets include dice?

I was just wondering because all poker sets seem to include 5 dice.

  5. This is the way I understand it, and what I read once on the subject.  I have no idea if it's true, but it makes sense to me...

    It's pretty much just a tradition.  Back before the poker boom, and poker wasn't as popular, the chip set makers would include dice in their chip sets because they were sold more of a 'gaming set', not just focusing on poker like we all think of now when we think chips and cards.  I don't know what sorts of games people played with the dice, but it's just how they filled the sets, and they still do it today.
