  1. well...polar bears live in the Arctic, not the Antartic..

oh well lol. Global Warming is threatening their survival. I think they could live somewhere else, but the only problem with that is..they would have to adapt to the new environment, and that itself would cause interruptions with breeding and taking care of the young. It is best when the polar bears are in their natural environment where all is normal.

  2. Before you start ranting and raving about things, please get your facts straight.

  3. Do not worry.  They are not dying.  As a matter of fact the population of polar bears is increasing.  In 1950 there were about 5,000 polar bears. Now there are 25,000.

  4. The polar bears depend on the arctic ice for their survival.  They are semi-aquatic and feed mostly on seals.  So no, they can't just move somewhere else.   Polar bears overhear very easily  in temperatures greater than 50 F.

The population of polar bears is not increasing.

Yes, semi-aquatic is the term I originally used.

Their population has declined in from over 40,000 in the 70's and 80's to around 25,000 today.

There is little food available for polar bears outside of what they hunt through the sea ice.   Leading scientific research agrees that without it, they can't survive.

  6. Polar bears don't live in the Antarctic... They live on the opposite side of the world!

Also, species die off and/or split apart into 2 all the time. (Well, in a scientific scale of time.)

  7. We should send some of them to the Amazon, and teach them to feed on the soybean farmers who are cutting down the rain forest.  That will solve two problems at once.

  8. The polar bears do not depend on the arctic ice for their survival. They are only semi-aquatic and feed on just about anything. So they will be lust fine where they are. The Artic will not get warm enough to overheat them.

The population of polar bears is increasing.

  9. All species that have ever lived on the planet are or will be extinct.

  10. get off here and go back to your kool-aid.

  11. A better question is why polar bears, as a species, have to survive at all?  Species come and go all the time.  If global warming is the cause of their depleted hunting areas, then that is a natural result.  That we, as humans, are responsible for their demise and for their preservation, is hubris on the part of those who believe this.  I, for one, am not into ecological self-flagellation.

The polar bear filled a niche which is now disappearing.  It is my belief that they will survive as long as they are not hunted into extinction like the dodo.
