politicians have different opinions, so they choose sides i guess.

to cater to the different opinions and ideals of potential voters

Parties are inevitable.  Say you have an issue you are really all about.  You team up with like minded people to get your votes towards your issue.  Well the opposite side of the issue does the same.  

Now these sides team up with other issue voters to maximize their chances of winning the voting war in their individual issue.  This keeps going until all sides have been divided up on all individual issues and we are left with two parties.

because people have different opinions on different views. and they are MOSTLY split into two groups. but just because you belong to one party doesn't mean you have to agree with everything that falls under it.

im 13 and i learned this this year.. its becuase the country has differnt opinions and want to express it in differnet forms sicne we are a democracy we are aloowed to do that.. it started out with the whigs and the rep democrat and changed to the democrats, republicans... we have them  becuase not everyu one has the same taste and if majority has one taste... the country should go on  that... hopes this helps :D

I wish they didn't. Too much labeling.

"He's a liberal."

"He's a neoconservative."

It's ridiculous.

The system of labeling has made Politics into something relating to a sports event. Cheer for your side no matter how wrong they are.

It'd be nice to support policies that were best for the country.

Because it is human nature to be argumentative and all people are different, some are hard working and honest (conservatives) while some are lazy and just want a free ride and enter public service (liberals)
