Why do politics make people so angry and divisive?

I think its been around since the late 1800's when the slaves were free. So many people were angry over it that it cause a war. Now its just part of life people just don't know what they get that way they just do if you look at it just cause they want something to be angry at or blame so politics is usally the first thing people seem to blame now.

I know, it's an ugly game. But even I'm guilty of insulting others of the opposite party. It's horrible, but somehow I think this happens at just about every election year. Peace!

It's become part of American culture. Look at how we have become so engrossed with voting for everything. From Presidents to representatives, American Idols, dancers. It runs the whole spectrum.

Kind of funny actually. I mean it has already been proven that peoples popular votes don't amount to anything. Give it up for the Electoral College and when that doesn't work there is always the Supreme Court.

So we are all arguing and bickering over things that we have no control over.

What a refreshing question.  One thing that I have learned is that in a debate, when you start namecalling, you lose.  You have to stick to the issues.  

Republicans are not all rich - Democrats aren't all socialists, but they get "lumped" into a package for convenience of throwing barbs and it's fruitless. These little kids on here are not changing anyone's mind, so it's a waste of time.

My take is that they are star struck because Obama is so popular.  He is popular because he represents the Unions.  All news media -union, so they promote him, Hollywood is union so they promote him, teachers are union, so there is bias,  T.V., Bands, Singers, Screenwriters, Textbook writers - All Union so Obama is getting the Celeb treatment.  But the older folks that know issues, know that Unionization is bad for businesses.  They will move overseas and take their jobs where they are appreciated.  Unions cause inflation because the price of everything goes up.  People are living on credit cards because everything is too high.  Anyway, that's my take.
