Why do pop up adds or websites come up when I click on a website on the web search list?

Question

I enter a word for "Web search" I get a list of websites, then I click on one of the numbered sites on that list and a popup ad or pop advertising site comes up instead.

...because you need a pop-up blocker, and Spybot S&D.
