Why do post office trucks have the steering wheel on the right side?

  1. Because as they drive down the street, all the mail boxes are on the right hand side of the road and it is easier for them to put the mail in the box that way. As opposed to driving on the left and leaning over to the right side all day or driving on the wrong side fo the road illegally all day.


  2. They aren't, in the UK they're on the other side for the same reason..

  3. because when they drive down the street the mail boxes are on the right side.  this allows them to place mail in the mail box without getting out of the truck

  4. DM - are you crazy? Few places in the UK even have mailboxes, most houses have a letter slot in the front door. Mail is delivered by hand to the door and mailmen walk their routes.

  5. So they can deliver the mail without getting out of their vehicles and if they need to get out they will always be away from the traffic.
