Why do ppl consider the mets as the best NL east team?

phillies do not get the credit we deserve...we dont go out and buy our star players..our stars (rollins,howard,utley,hamels,burrell) all drafted by us..and we go out and get noname players like shane victorino and turn them into stars. the mets got reyes and wright from the start BUT THATS IT..they buy big name players (santana, delgado, beltran, pedro) and "experts" say how great they are when the phils go out and win without buying the big names and win with what we have

Mets have always been like that, it's the way richer franchises are run, they overpay to buy their teams every year.  Whats funny is it hasn't really worked out for the Mets, and every year people seem to think it'll be the year, and every year the Phillies or the Braves or the Marlins overtake them.  

Phillies have a great team, people don't give the Phillies credit the last few years is because they seem to have the same problem every year: pitching, and don't address it very well.  The Lidge trade this year was awesome, but imagine how much better the rotation would be if they had kept Kyle Lohse.

I agree, the Phillies don't get enough credit, but it's not gonna matter where credit was given during the regular season when the Phillies make the play-offs over the Mets.  =D

the fact is your team has no starting pitching other than hamels, and you cant win if your pitchers do bad (ex: turn on the game right now)

the phillies have better hitting obviously, but have absolutely no pitching

yeah well that was last year, and you wont be leading by 11:00 tonight if the mets are able to stop the stros form scoring

What about the Marlins? They're hanging 1 1/2 games below and they are doing great. They have been playing well against the Phillies and Mets and people still down-grade the Marlins.

Neither of those teams are the best they are only there because all of the Braves pitchers are on the DL. The braves would be in first if it was not for all the injurys. The Mets and the Phillies will fall apart like they always do down the stretch. After the dust clears the florida marlins will probally win and the braves would have come back if they could have some desecent pitching. They can not seem to figure out that Mike Hampton is a has been never will be again and that Chuck James is nothing more than a RP for games that out of reach! If they had any sense their rotation would be. Jair Jurgens, Buddy Carlyle,  Charlie Morton, Jeff Bennett,  Jorge Campillo.

Not many people consider them the best team now because they failed to acquire an outfielder and a starting pitcher to fix that damned inconsistent rotation. And even though they have Johan Santana, it doesn't mean anything if the offense blows it every time.
