Question:

Why do pro-choice people say "women have the right to do what they want with their bodies"?

That isn't even the issue. Anti-abortion people don't care what women do with their own bodies, it's the FETUS' body that is so hotly debated. The fetus is its own separate body that is merely attached to the woman's body - it has its own DNA, so it cannot possibly be "part of the woman's body" by definition. Anything that is "part of your body" must have your DNA.

So, while we don't care if a woman cuts herself, beats herself, etc., we DO care what she does to the individual inside her.

So I ask, why do they argue that it is their body, when it isn't?

  1. obviously prochoice people DONT think that the fetus is its own seperate body

  2. A fetus is part of the woman's body until birth.

  3. If and until Abortion is illegal, you don't have a point.

  4. I agree with you 100%.  It's not about what women are allowed or not allowed to do to their bodies.  It's what they should or shouldn't be allowed to do to the BABY growing inside of them.

I have a question of my own:  For all the pro-choicers out there with kids, I wonder when they actually considred themselves mothers or fathers?  When they found out they were having a baby?  When the mommy's belly starting to get big?  Or was it all just a "choice" and not a baby until the day he or she was born?

  5. Bravo, and totally agree, the fetus is a creation of a higher power, there is birth control, but that should be used before and not after!

  6. No, it's the woman's body and she has the choice to remain pregnant or not since she is a fully realized human with families, relationships and civil rights accorded by the Constitution.  A fetus does not have Constitutional rights and it is not an individual if it is dependent on somebody else's uterus to go to full term.

Worry about taking responsibility for yourself and quit trying to control other people.

I worry for the day that a fetus has more rights than the woman carrying it.  That will be a very scarey day for sure.

  7. Because our courts and science have agreed that it is for all intents and purposes.

Do you want to stop abortions?  Educate young men and women.  Telling them not to do something isn't working and will never work.....

  8. Because without the mother there would be no baby.  The baby is unable to live outside of the mother's body, so at that point, so the fetus is not separate just like the mother is not separate.    It's not 'merely attached' it's inside and would die outside, so that is just silly.

And what about medical problems?  Should both mother and fetus die?  Or should abortions to save at least one life be ok?

If you don't like abortion, don't have one.  Raise your children how you want, but you dont get to decide what I do with my children.

  9. Pro choice isn't about fetuses.  It is about government interference into personal life.  I'm not a woman but I don't want the government telling me when and how I can live and when and how I can die...no more than it does now. If you don't believe in abortion, don't have one.  Your decision and your partner's.  My partner and I have the same rights you do.

I remember when abortions were illegal.  That didn't stop them.  Lots of women got them in horrible circumstances and suffered incredible infections and deaths.  We have laws that say don't kill.  We have to punish killers.  How will you punish abortioners and their helpers?  We don't need more government messing in our personal lives.

I have not met any pro choice women who want abortions for themselves and a few faced that possibility and chose life for their embryos.  What they don't want is the theocrats/big brothers running their lives.  Pro choice is realistic because no one can take away the choice.  They can only punish you if you break the law.  Maybe that gives the self-righteous something to do with their latent hostility.

Theologically, the pro life people seem to have excluded God from the birth process.  I believe God is still active and life is given when God breathes the breath of life into a fetus.  He did that in the beginning and still does it.  Life is not an automatic process.

  10. Killing a baby is taking its right to live, that is murder, I avoid stepping on a worm or bug, I have reverie for  all life!

I think a fetus should have more rights than the women carrying it

The women had a choice, birth control, the baby has a nix choice!

  11. It is just a weak argument that they use to justify the murder of an unborn human being.

  12. The fetus is not its own body...it is attached and depends on the mothers body to survive....that is why, if the fetus were removed it would die...b/c it cannot survive unless it is taking nutrients from the mothers body to do so.....technically, scientists call something that grows and thrives off of another body that is not able to sustain life itself a parasite. I wouldn't necessarily use that language...but it is accurate technically.

  13. I hate the women that say " gov't has no right to tell me what to do with my body"

These same people want the gov't to pay for health care for said body

    The audacity of hypocrisy

  14. It comes from watching those girl's gone wild TV adds.

    Obama approves Pro Abortion

  15. The fetus is a parasite by definition.  The embryo/fetus has an elaborate protection system in place to prevent the host/mom from rejecting the foreign cells.  If you had a giant tapeworm growing in you would you demand its right to live because the DNA is different than yours and it has its own body?  I think not.

You say you don't care if the woman cuts herself, beats herself, etc.?  If you are so compassionate, why don't you care about a living, breathing, thinking, tax paying human being?  Why do you think that a non-viable clump of cells is more important than someone that is already here?

Although I understand and respect your position, I would like to see people that share your opinion do more than mouth off.  There are so many abused and unwanted children already here, why don't we take care of them instead of bringing more unwanted babies into the world?

  16. By all medical accounts a pregnancy is not considered viable until 20 to 27 weeks.  Viable meaning not able to survive outside of the womb.  Over 90% of all abortions occur prior to 8 weeks, another 8% occur prior to 12 weeks.  Late term abortions (abortions after 27 weeks) account for about 3 tenths of 1% of all abortions (about 450 last year) and are a rare occurrence.  You start your argument by falsely assuming that a fetus is a human being.  It is not.  I am truly sorry that you so readily give up your own reproductive rights but then they are yours to give up.  That being said be more worried about yourself and leave other womens bodies alone.

  17. The answer seem quite simple to me.  If you don't like abortion don't have one.

  18. Why do anti-choicers want to have a say what a woman does with her body and that of her zygote, but if she comes to term and delivers, want NOTHING to do with it?

  19. liberals think it's unfair to kill convicted murderers and rapists, yet think a mother has every right to kill her unborn baby. I will never understand their twisted, backward logic.

  20. It isn't my body? Really? So who carries the fetus?

If you don't wanna have an abortion, then don't. It's a personal choice. We should be able to take our own decision.

How dare you to say what I'll do with my body?

How dare you to say what is best for my fetus?

  21. A fetus within a woman would have her DNA, unless it were a surrogacy pregnancy.  The DNA doesn't just come out of nowhere.

Edit: Exactly, the mother's DNA is present.  I'm pro-choice and you're not doing a good job of arguing it.
