Why do protestant churches allow divorce.?

Given that the bible says that you cant get a divorce and if you do seperate from your spouse you cant be with another person.

How come there are so many remarried people in protestant churces?

  1. God hates divorce. But if it has to happen, it's only allowed on grounds of adultery, as the Bible states.
