Question:

Why do protestants Hate Mary the mother of Jesus Christ so Much - Please explain.?

I have heard sermon after sermon about ruth, ester, rachel niome etc etc. Never hear anyone speak about the virtues of Jesus mother.

I wonder why protestants have such a hatred for her. Catholic do not worship but hold her in the high respect and honor that she dererves as a servant of God.

Yet constantly I see posts from people who "claim" to be "saved" because their "100 year old religion founded by a man" and theology "written by man" claims so.

Someone help me with this one, it doesnt make any sense.

  1. Protestants don't hate her. She was chosen to give birth to Jesus, for that she is respected. We don't believe she can answer any prayers so we don't pray to her and we don't put statues of her (or any saints) around. The only one christians should pray to is God, He is the only one who can answer. That's the difference.

  2. No one hates Mary, she is honoured & respected as a servant of

YHWH God & the mother of Messiah.

She cannot hear prayers nor can she mediate for us as she is in the

    grave.

She was obviously a good mother, but she was human just like us.

  3. I am not Protestant.I am Anabaptist, but I feel the need to explain it to you.

~Mary was an honoured woman, but she is not to be prayed to.There are many honourable women in the bible, as you mentioned, and no one prays to them.

~Mary is not the mother of God.She was Jesus's earthy surrogate mother.

~Mary cannot intercept or interceed for anyone. She has no powers. There is no need to pray to her, as she is dead and can do nothing. We are to pray to God through Jesus only.

~Praying to Mary to intercept and interceed, is still praying to Mary and is worshipping a false idol in God's eyes.

  4. I have no clue...I truly don't. I hear some people say "WHy would I waste my time with a dead woman"...That's a good question, they truly hate the Mother of Christ!

tot he person who said that Marie was a siner is wrong! Marie was not born with sin nor did she sin!

edit" DOminic, I'm Catholic and I don't remember preaching to pray to her...bizzar...i didn't get that memo! please email it to me so i can pass it along.

  5. The help you need should come from God.  You need to stop speaking this way about others.

Protestants do not hate Mary.  Are you a troll?  If not, I'm truly shocked at your speaking.

  6. She was a sinner chosen by God to be the portal to bring His Son into the world - nothing more and nothing less. ALL Jesus' glory comes fron HIS FATHER ALONE!

BTW, prayers to Mary ARE TOTALLY WASTED. She cannot hear them - and neither does God!

  7. Did not Christ say that they would hate us just as they hated Him. Why would one think that the blessed mother of God would be any less hated and despised than any others still faithful to His Church? Non-Catholics are in protest of Christ's teaching and His Church believing that their man made churches are superior to Christ's Church and that their doctrines and practices have more veracity than the Church containing all of Christ's promises including the promise of forever being the "bulwark and ground of the truth". Despite their hatred for us and for the blessed mother of God we are called by Christ to be an example for humanity and love others including our enemies and those who hate His Church. Be charitable to those lacking the grace and the fullness of truth that we have been blessed to receive. May the Lord have mercy on them.

    In Christ

  8. Never have I encountered anyone who expressed hatred for Mary. The only thing I've seen is a rejection of her as a means of prayer to God.

That's a far cry from hatred, wouldn't you think?

I get the feeling like you are looking for an argument, and I wonder why this might be. Surely it cannot be for the hope of converting others. You'll never make any friends or converts with a negative attitude. You can catch a lot more flies with honey than you will with vinegar.

  9. They don't hate her, they just don't worship her

  10. I do not hate Mary, but the Catholic teachings do not match up to the Bible. Mary was still a virgin at the point that Jesus was born, but went on to have children with Joseph, thus was no longer a virgin.

The Bible teaches us to Pray to the Father, in the name of Jesus in accordance with the word of God and we would have whatsoever we ask. We are not to pray to or through Mary nor The Pope, nor any of the Saints.

Jesus is the one and only path to the Father and there is no other way by which the Father will hear us. There is only one Father That is God in Heaven.

  11. You are absolutely silly...seriously....I think you're a troll trying to turn people against Catholics.

No one hates Mary.  Quit being a goof.  Every Christian church respects Mary as a servant of God...they just do not hold her in the same light as Catholics, mainly because most of the churches teachings on Mary is oral tradition and not in the scriptures.

I grew up Protestant...just because they don't spend hours and hours hours with Hail Mary..doesn't mean they hate her.

I've always thought somewhere between Catholics obession and Protestant ignoring of her is where we belong.

  12. Not talking about her means they hate her?  I think you're blowing things waaaayyyyy out of proportion.

    .

  13. yea exactly

    we dont hate anyone

    we just dont worship her

    God and God only

we know she is his mother but she isnt a hero

  14. Since when do we hate her? You pray to her, which we see as wrong, at least from what I know about Catholicism.

  15. Because, she is not above me, nor you. She is our equal, and why would I pray to someone who is my equal?

  16. I don't hate Mary, she is one of the great women of the Bible.  But I don't have pictures of Ruth, Esther etc. and including Mary all over my house, either.  Yes, she is the mother of the human Jesus and the Pieta at the Vatican is the most beautiful statue in the world, but we do not accept her as a lifetime virgin or sinless.

Catholicism as all human religions were started by humans.  All of us who believe in redemption by the blood of Jesus are the body of Christ.

  17. If Jesus is truly the Son of God, then I doubt He's mad at anybody for holding His mother in such high esteem..

...It's just another form of Catholic-bashing, let it go...

  18. We don't! We just see Mary for who she really was, a vessel and that's all.We have had many talks on Mary. But nowhere does it say in the Bible that she is holy, a saint, etc. It says she was blessed and highly favored.

  19. I respect her because she was chosen to bring forth Y'shua (Jesus).  BUT she was only a vessel, she can neither hear prayers nor answer them.  The ONLY sinless birth was Y'shua. Like all other flesh, Mary was born with the stain of original sin.

  20. Hail mary Mother of jesus, son of God.

hail mary mary mother of the only begotten

hail mary, thy name be blessed forever

    hail mary.

as a born again christian, as a protestant and than also as an lds witness of jesus christ. Mary is the Mother of jesus but she is NOT God.

all prayers must be spoken to God the Father, otherwise it becomes idolatrous.

    in the name of jesus.

in the name of the son.

p.s. i dont think there is anything wrong with praising Mother Mary. She is after all Chosen as the mother of jesus. but the bible does allow for the worship of the lamb, for he is worthy.

  21. I don't "hate" her at all. I just don't worship her as a Saint. I believe she was a very nice woman, but she was just that, a normal woman, like any other. God chose her to do a job for Him, and she did it. She is indeed, special for that, but in my religion, we don't worship her. God said not to worship false idols, so I don't. I worship God.

  22. Catholics preach that if you pray to Mary, then she can act as a medium--a go between--for you and God. Jesus himself told the people, "The only way to get to the kingdom of heaven is through me." Which means that praying to the Saints, and to the Virgin Mary has no place is practice.

It's not that the Protestants hate the Holy Mother, it's that they don't "worship" or prayer to her, as the Catholics would.
