Question:

Why do protestants pick on JW's, Mormons, and Catholics?

When if fact they don't even have a cohesive doctrine themselves?

Nor do they all agree on all theologies...

And in fact they err on some doctrines...

The Orthodox and Catholic churches themselves have every right to consider Protestants cults much like the Protestants consider Mormons and JW's cults.

  1. jesus taught his disciples "love one another as i have loved you...so they will know that you are my disciple" NOT TO PICK ON ONE ANOTHER.  i suppose all christian churches claim to be christians and disciples of christ for that matter.  why can't we understand such a simple sentence (with a simple subject, predicate, and indirect object) or perhaps a compound sentence (because of its prepositional phrase). amen

  2. Inferiority complex

  3. If they were from the heavenly Father, they would have Love.

Since they are not of the heavenly Father,

then they are of satan the devil.

btw~~ you should Look! Up the word "Cult."

    No, Christianity is a cult,

in the derogative sense of the word.

    While it is true,

that not all claiming to be 'Christian' are 'Truly Christian.'

  4. You almost answered your own question.  The 9,000 or so Protestant denominations also fight amongst themselves.

  5. Are you aware that Christianity is not divided between Catholic and Protestant......Christians are Christians and all follow the doctrine and teaching of Jesus Christ.

  6. Good question.  I've often wondered the same thing when I hear about preachers devoting an entire hour sermon to bashing another church from the pulpit.  Is that what Jesus had in mind when He said, "If ye are not one, ye are not mine..."?

  7. Ideologically they run the same course.

For a protestant church to be correct they must believe:

1 - that the catholic church was apostate so they were right to "protest" and break away

2 - that there was no apostasy from the truth and so no need for a restoration of truth by the LDS church

3 - that they are correct in their interpretation of the bible which the JWs argue against.

You'll notice #1 and #2 contradict each other, but they have no choice.  On the topic of authority only 2 churches make the claim and so they must attack all who make the claim even if their attack on one would validate the other.

As a Mormon, I wouldn't list any church as a cult.  Although technically accurate for all religions, it's rude and insulting and an unChristian judgment - however based on Mathew 7:1-2 they might deserve it.  Clearly it's not our place to judge.

  8. Jehovah's Witnesses have a history of being picked on because we tell the truth and the truth hurts. We expose the religions that are hypocritical and lie about God and the Bible and people don't like that, not...one...bit.

  9. I always liked Baptists. I traveled back south and the black Baptists I met were all very kind.  I thought they had so much energy and passion, until I had several experiences with some Baptists with what I feel were very un-christlike actions.

First, is the group that was interviewed by a local TV station in my city.  They were a group of Baptists that would fly into Utah every year, meet up with their anti-mormon friend who owned a store dedicated to distributing anti-mormon literature.  There they would load up on materials and head off to one of the traditional Mormon plays that depicts the coming forth of the Book of Mormon.  This play is put on at a Temple site that Mormons consider sacred.  Most people travel 3 or more hours to get there to see it.  So, there are the Baptists, spewing any evil thing they can think of to the people going to see the play, and handing out the anti-mormon literature.  When interviewed and asked why they do it, the said, "Oh, it's really fun, we want to straighten out our misguided sisters and brothers.  We plan a trip every year to come and we save up for it."

The second experience was when the Baptist church organized a mass effort for members of there church to go to Utah and try to convert their wayward sisters and brothers in the Mormon church.  They did a door to door canvassing to try to persuade us that we were dilusional.  Our prophet advised us to accept them graciously and answer their questions but not to argue.  This we did, and I had a chance to ask them about why they did not believe in revelation.  I brought out that it didn't make sense that God would stop talking to mankind, since he was the same today, yesterday and forever.  They didn't have an answer.

Third experience:  I was on a plane and was sitting next to a Baptist lady.  She was very upset and almost angry that she could not go inside our Mormon temple.  I tried to explain that to us it was a holy place.  I said that I would like to show her some scriptures from the Book of Mormon.  I pulled it out.  She backed away and with fear said that she had no desire to even touch the book.  I wondered where she had got such a wierd notion from.  It was like she thought the book was evil or something.  It made me sad because I consider it to be a book of scripture.

Fourth experience:  In our neighborhood their is a Baptist church around the corner.  It has a marqui in the front of it.  On it for about a month, it advertised that they would be holding classes to refute the Mormon religion by using the Bible.  I was tempted to go and defend my religion, but I thought that I might get stoned or something.

If it wasn't for the black Baptists I have met and one white guy that I had worked with, I would be wondering if all Baptists were like this.  Why would suposed religious leaders spend precious time in their meetings to down or warn their members about another church?  I question their motives. Why are their members so gullable to believe them?  I can tell you that I have never once heard any other church put down in our meetings and I have been a member for 47 years!  We do not discuss their doctrine either.  Their are so many other good things to be discussing and doing besides putting down other religions.

As far as other Protestant religions and the Catholics I have had no experience with these so I can not judge.  I would ask the members of these churches to analyze what the motivations are of their preachers, priests etc.  who are supposed to be following Christ, when they put down the Mormon faith.  Consider, could it be fear of losing their membership to Mormonism?  We as Mormon's encourage our members and investigators to find out if the church is the true church of Jesus Christ for themselves.  Why don't the other churches do the same and stop waisting their time putting down others?

  10. And I have every right to consider all of you dangerously delusional.

  11. What do you expect from people who only have unity in hate common sense...JUst look at these freaks

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5CwBeeoG...

They are way more daffy than the Mormons or the JW'S

  12. Five good reasons:

    1. They think they KNOW that their church and own ideas is the right one. They want other people to agree with the same "Truths" and "Light" they found out after Searching The Scriptures.

    2. They are biased against another particular church. Protestants fought really hard against Catholics.

    3. Their church made them angry and excommunicated that person or made that person leave without excommunication when the church wouldn't agree with a member's own "Truth" and "Light" found out in the Scriptures.

    4. They want to put down another religions because it's fun and they need more members. I remember a particular Protestant church was on an anti-Harold Camping campaign when they lost 10 members of their church who were mentioning Family Radio and Harold Camping.

    5. They want Power. They use words like calling other churches a "Cult" to give them authority. They might say something like God still is the same today, yesturday, and forever. He spoke to me in a dream and in a vision. Doesn't your God do that for you too? Or Your God isn't loving at all? Like Mormons who do this all the time to add creditability to their claims, but we must start with the premise that the Holy Bible is The Word of God (John 1:1, 2 Peter 1:21, etc) absolutely true and trustworthy in its original languages.
