  1. The US gov't defined it that way to have more daylight during the part of the day we define as day.  It doesn't actually change the way time works or how much sunlight you get.  It's just an odd thing America does, and most of the rest of the world doesn't.

  2. its' called the equinox affair, if the sun and moon were two sisters of a kind, then one of them would "envy" the night and follow its' course, while the other would be extremely jealous and move on to shed its' light towards lower ground.

  3. <<<uk only please i dont care about america>>>

LOL Like you're the only ones who do that, right?

But the answer is (and this is coming from an AMERICAN) is so that we can have more daylight. If you do it the other way around, you defeat the purpose.

  4. So that kids don't have to go to school in the dark.  That's the reasoning behind us doing it, here in the US and in Britain.

If you've been getting up in the morning about the same time each day, you've noticed it being a little darker each week or so. Well, about this time, it's really dark when kids go to school, and that's considered dangerous for them.  So, to help solve this problem, we make it to where the kids are going to school an hour later, when the sun is up.  And this situation is true all over the northern hemisphere so many countries have adopted this change in the clocks.

  5. Clocks go back in October so as it stays lighter at night for an hour extra and forward in the spring so it is lighter an hour earlier.

I guess that this was originally done so that crops could be sown and have more light to do so in the autumn/winter before we widely used electic lights.

Nowadays, it's just a pain in the **** when you forget to change the clocks and you miss the programme you wanted to watch for the last week.

  6. To give you more daylight time to work so you can pay more taxes
