Why do "GOOD FOR THE EARTH CARS" have to be UGLY?

  1. In the late 90s, GM sold an entirely electric car called the EV1. It's advertisements on TV were very lame, ignoring the conventions that have successfully sold cars for years. It's assumed that GM hoped that there would be no consumer demand for the EV1.


  2. They are ugly because the independant manufactures want them to be bold and stand out.  Also the small groups usually don't have their own design departments like the big companies do.

    But the oddball looks seem to work.  Look at the Civic Hybrid, looks virtually identical to the non-hybrid Civic, but can't come close to the sales of the goofy looking second generation Prius.

  3. The car companies don't really want to sell "green" machines yet ... have you noticed how these inferior cars are also extremely expensive ... giving them only to the rich also makes them useless .

  4. I dont think its so necessary but most fashionable cars aren't good. WE should take time the cars can develop new designs
