Why do rear ends on some SUVs/Trucks sag?

I see alot of 4 runners like this and my explorer is like this as well. Instead of the car looking level the rear end kinda sags down. Is it supposed to be like that or does that mean the springs are old or something?

  1. Springs are metal.  And all metal show metal fatigue (sag) after time - especially if it carried lot of heavy weight.

    Good Luck...
