Take an office supply catalog for instance. Items flagged as *recycled* cost more than the same non-recycled item. Shouldn't it cost less?

  1. it cost more to make.

and if you know the item cost more then you will recycle. Say in California we all pay more for cans, then when you recycle you got the money back.

  2. companys jack up the price beacause everyone is using the whole "green" gimmick to sell more stuff and make more profit. even if its not actually recycled or good for the envirement.

  3. I agree with the answers given, but, you should remember that while recycled items costs more in monetary terms, they "cost less" when compared to the damage they cause to the environment.

Anyways, great that you even considered using recycled items......that is one more on the side of Planet Earth.

  4. it costs more to take used paper, refine it, and turn it into clean paper than to make clean paper from scratch. try baking a cake, then separate the ingredients to make a new cake. it's a lot easier to use raw materials.

  5. It cost More because there are more process to clean and re-process it

although it cost more but for the sake of earth

  6. It costs more to gather, sort and clean the materials than using raw materials  does.
