Red cars always get a high insurance rate. Not all red cars are sporty or fast so why is this?

  1. That is not true. Color makes no difference. Call your agent and ask. The ins. co doesn't ask most times but they can tell by the VIN# what color it is on late model cars.,,,,,,,,,,,UJN

  2. Because the people who drive them are riskier people. Cops usually are more attracted to red cars giving them more tickets, which raises your rate. Also most sports cars are red and that has something to do with it. The color though should not matter with insurance. Someone probably came up with a study showing this, but they failed to realize who actually drives red cars and what kind of cars are red. You will pay the same whether your car is red, purple, or pink.

  3. Its a myth. Most insurance companies don't ask the color of the car anyway.

  4. they dont your dumb

  5. Mainly because red cars attract more attention than any other color. Well, i would hope that yellow would be in this category too. But, I've always heard that insurance is more high on red cars because there are just so "flashy" i guess you could say...They have no need to ask you the color, as soon as they run a VIN all that comes up. Anyway, it may be a myth, but I've always heard it too.

  6. Well you know, every time i've had a red car someone hits it. Its like a red rag to a bull for some reason, & i know others who have had the same problems.

This is the only reason i can think of, i would be interested to know the real reason, & wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with this.

  7. It doesn't matter what the color is. There are so many variations of Red that it is impossible (or too time consuming)to catagorize each shade of red paint code and set a price for each.

  8. It's harder to see the blood if there's injury in an accident

  9. It's not true.

I've insured five cars, never once been asked the color.  Granted they pulled up the VIN# which has the color, but even still, I've cross-shopped a red car with a black one and there was no difference at all.

They'll hit you hard because you live in a bad neighborhood, though, or because you're under 25.
