Why do reporters covering the Olympics need information about Tibet?

On the Yahoo! homepage they had a video about how horrible it is that China is "censoring" Olympics' reporters, but most of the things that are censored are unrelated to the Olympics.

Also, why would I want to read an Olympics report with information about Tibet that I could look up myself? There's no point on having reporters at the Olympics AT ALL if they are spending their time on the internet researching a different region of the country! A reporter in Beijing should be at the games telling us who's winning, who's injured, interviewing athletes, making predictions, etc. They should be giving us information about the games that only someone there could give us (like interviews!). If they are doing their jobs, they shouldn't even notice blocked sites about unrelated topics!

I mentioned Amnesty international report a few hours ago to my friend in China earlier and it just went dead. So seems they have code words to cut the contact even on yahoo. Yahoo allow them this it seems when I look into it.

The chinese government made certain promises and commitments to the IOC, one of which was that they would allow free flow of information on the internet. They have not kept their word on this, or many other issues.

I feel it is appropriate for journalists to report on the whole situation and not simply focus on the sporting activities.

"Not noticing" should not be an option!

That is good that you know what questions the reporters should ask.  The Olympics are games of peace between the worlds athletes.  We are guests in their country and should follow their rules.  China is not America.

I was hoping to learn more on China other than politics, but unfortuneately that is the presses agenda
