Kid's meals are usually cheaper because they have less food. Why when a kid orders the kids meal it's cheaper than when an adult orders the exact same meal?

  1. The kids' meal is specially designed with children in mind. Common items include chicken fingers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, etc.

The cost is usually around $3.50, because the portion and price are meant FOR THE CHILD. The primary idea of a restaurant is to bring in adults who want to eat "adult" food, and therefore pay "adult" prices. There is a price reductions on children's food because the portions are smaller. Often times, a restaurant will offer the exact same meal on the adult's menu, i.e. Burgers, chicken fingers, etc.

If you don't like the fact that as a grown adult, you can't order off the kid's menu, then go to a fast food place like McDonald's.

  2. because their greedy and they want their money

  3. they don't want full tables of people getting $5 kids meals

  4. It depends on how the children's menu is priced. If it's just smaller portions at slightly lower prices, then the restaurant usually will serve the "children's" dishes to anyone who asks for them.

If the menu is deeply discounted, it is there to lure the parents into choosing that restaurant for family outings ... you know, like "kids eat free on Tuesday" (when accompanied by an adult meal buying adult) deals. If everyone who asked was allowed to get a burger and fries for 99 cents, the restaurant would soon be out of business.

  5. I agree!  It smacks of ageism to me>>>>many times I am really  not so hungry that I could eat a who adult meal>>>most places won't serve it to adults.  Every once in a while, you can get a server who will let you order a kids meal>>>>I always up the tip when that happens ;)

  6. Probably because they don't want teenagers and adults to order of off them because it is cheaper.  But, every restaraunt I have been to and ordered off the kids menu, they don't really care.  They don't even blink an eye at me.  But, in this case with what I just said, then there is no point for the age limit, now is there =P.  In an answer to your secind question, it is because they make you think since it is a kid's menu, there will be less food, when in reality it isn't but they know that you don't know that and are willing to pay for the food.

  7. Because they don't want teens eating them out of business.
