Why do restaurants serve coffee after a meal?

Even after dinner? It doesn't make sense, I thought you were only supposed to drink coffee before 3 pm due to the caffeine so it would not disrupt your body's sleep patterns.

  1. They base their menues and things on what the customer might want. some people for instance like to drink juice with their hamburgers lol. but yeah the variety of the things that they serve are based on what they think the person that is eating there might want.


  2. Some people like to drink coffee when they have finished their meal. No idea why..Im usually too full for coffee

  3. Hot beverages will assist your body in the process of digestion.  yes coffee is very high in caffeine, but in america most people don't go out and ask for tea.

  4. As a restaurant owner, I can say offering coffee stimulates interest in the dessert menu. it's all about per capita revenue.

    Plus many people are in the habit of finishing off s good meal with a hot beverage... it stimulates digestion (sic)

  5. I enjoy a late cup of java, especially after a sweet dessert.  It helps to get the sweetness out of my mouth.  It never keeps me up at night.

  8. i think its like a old people thing. i noticed people like to drink coffee with their desserts. its juts that little rush of sugar. just like pepsi or coke. has a bunch of caffiene but doesnt stop people from drinking it any time of the day. coffe drinkers are used to it it doesnt do c**p for them. its like people who are used to alcohol and beers, i dunno why they serve it but people like it.
