We let my retarded cousin use our washroom by herself and she smeared poo all over! Help, she's coming to visit next week and we just got through disinfecting the place. What should we do?

  1. so you let her use the bathroom you say that like YOU were doing her a favor what was she suppose to do use the one at the gas station

she is not the one that needs help you do....learning some respect for your own cousin (calling her retarded)

she has a  DISABILITY after you get that through your head then maybe your mother should speak to your Aunt and explain to her what happened and that she should be supervised when she uses the bathroom.

  2. I work in a classroom with students who have disabilities.  Never would I refer to them as retarded, it is rude and disrespectful.  In fact, most students in special education classes know not to disrespect each other with names and to treat them politely, maybe you should take a lesson from these "retards" in manners.  As far as to keep it from happening again:

Children with disabilities do not misbehave because they are being bad, but because they do not always know how to behave.  I recommend that you have an adult, maybe a parent of either yourself or your cousin can accompany her to the restroom to keep the issue from occurring again.  If there is no problem, she needs to be rewarded and praised for doing such a good job.  Going to the bathroom by herself will probably be a reward in itself, so after she has caught on to using the toilet correctly, she should be allowed to use it alone unless she makes a mess again, someone accompanies her.

Remember that things do not come as easy to you as they do not come as easy for your cousin as they do most, and that is not her fault or her choosing, it's just the way she was born.

    Good luck!

  3. aww your poor cousin. I'm sure she didn't mean to smear poo all over but you need to be more considerate of your cousin's feelings and respect.

  4. Don't let her go to the bathroom alone. Prompt her through each part of the bathroom routine. Praise her when she follows your directions. If you want to know the bathroom sequence, go to the website, Do2Learn. You can even download a series of pictures that show her each step of the routine.

  5. i feel bad 4 u here is what to run p.s. lock the bath room door with a 12 bolt and beware of the poo

  6. Sounds like you're the one with problems.................

  7. Be respectful and understand that she has a disability.
