  1. I may buck the trend here but:

When I was a youngster my parents who were quite well off always made sure that the tradesmen were looked after. Even if they didn't have time to see to them themselves they would get the cleaner to see to them or just let them know they could help themselves.

I now work as a handyman. Only one client comes to mind who did not offer me a cup of tea. It only took me some 90 minuites to do the job, so it wasn't an issue. I suspect the wife would have offered if the opportunity presented itself.

About 50% of clients have offered me lunch if I am working the whole day.

Most of my clients are very accomodating in this respect, regardless of income bracket. I did some work for my sister recently who is affluent, and she was always taking trips out with the tray of coffee for the gardeners. The decorators actually came equipped with their own tea, milk, sugar and cups, but were offered. I was not short of refreshment either.

Not offering tradesmen cups of tea is not an income bracket thing as such, it's a mindset. Some people regardless of income bracket have a mindset where tradesmen are seen as self sufficient in that respect.

The intelligent thinking to my mind, is to look after the tradesmen, and they will look after you. When we had our house renovated in the midlands many years ago, we supplied a kettle and all the ingredients for tea or coffee, and some buscuits. In return the builders did in some ways give us back more than we bargained for in terms of value of work.

  2. I'm not quite sure which 'trades' you are referring to.

Look, I've been an office cleaner in Mayfair for a number of years.

The first thing the Toffs always ask is, "would you like a cuppa? I'm having one". To which I always replay, "never say no to a cuppa Rosey".

I'm not even trade, but there it is.

These same Toffs always buy a copy of the Big Issue.  Not one for the office, but one each.  Good for them.

Anyway, the blessed rates charged by Trades Persons leave one to believe they can afford their own cuppa tea.

  3. Its just not done, bring a flask if you don,t want to ask.

  4. This is not always true, but unfortunately it often is. Perhaps they feel too superior, I don't know, but what I do know is that you would never go the extra mile for someone who is so mean. They lose ultimately, not the trade. Am I right?

  5. they are rich because they never spend money on groceries, and time is money!

  6. Queen Liz the 1st was the first Drug trafficar. In 1606 she was behind the traffic of Opium from India to China, through the east Indian shipping company. They also traffic slaves through her slave trader John Hawkings. She knighted him Sir John Hawkings.

1830 the royals distance themselves from drug dealing by granting opium monopoly rights to David Sassoon family agent for the crown. He shared his dope profits with Queen Victoria. When China barred opium Sassoon and the British retaliated through the opium wars of 1843 and 1858. The forces of the market defeat the chinese moral postion. Sassoon and the crown forced drug addiction on an entire nation, stole the island of Hong Kong and made it the capitol of British international Drug Trade.

In 1872 Queen Victoria knighted David Sassoons son Edward Albert Sassoon, who spread the illeagal opium trade through China and Japan. In 1887 Edward sassoon married Aline Caroline Rothschild, and so joined the pirated fortunes of the Sassoon drug cartel to the Rothschild money cartel. Today  its business as useuall for the decendants of the Sassoon and Rothschild families, who socialise with Queen Liz the 2nd and prince Charles as elite members of Britains inner circle. Many have been granted titles like Sir , countess, baron, and marquee. But there many victims are not fooled by the crowns and the titles and have other names for them. Sutch as Liars, Theives, Drug Dealers, and mass murderers for the crown.

  7. I think its pretty general most of the rich people I have dealt with have been pretty good.

  8. Now you know why their rich....it's because they're tight

  9. They didn't get rich by giving it away!

  10. Because trades people are largely working class and working class people are not used to drinking Darjeeling from china cups

  11. It depends for me.

If the jobs a quick one then i won't really bother - i just want them gone asap.

Also - i won't offer if i find them unpleasant.

If they are going to be around a while and i've already paid for their time or if they are free or seem particularly friendly - i'd offer them drink, food, whatever.
