  1. That is a most interesting question and one that probably has several factors. One that is most significant in my opinion has to do with the hormone that makes all birds sing, or in this case crow. The hormone is testosterone. In the early hours of morning a rooster's testosterone level probably goes up- along with some others.

Biologists have a theory that birds sing or crow to let other birds know where they are so they can space themselves far enough apart so they don't overcrowd each other. You could think of this a defending their territory, and rooster are very protective of their hens. They often fight to the death with other roosters.

So we might interpret the rooster crowing at the beginning of the day to clear out rival males by crowing really loud and scaring them away. They do this in the daytime because they sleep at night and would not engage in battle in the darkness since they are diurnal, active in the daytime.

  2. Roosters, thats what they do, its instinct. It is to tell when its morning. They do it also to tell the other roosters thats there territory. And to call the ladies.

    Its also called crowing.

I recommend getting some hens, it wont stop it but will make him a lot happier. No roosters though. He will kill the other or the other will kill him. He would only get use to others if they were raised with him.

  3. Your roo crows and boast he will do this for the rest of his life this is what they do to speak to others such as other roos and hens also to let other roos know hay this is my turf and this is my place also to let other roos know not to cross his turf, Yes he will crow in the morning since he sleeps or rest at night and some during the day to send out the message again. When you get the hens he may do more than now to let other roos know hay I'm still here but now with my ladies.
