Why do rugby league players 'wiggle' after they get tackled?

I've always been confused about one thing in rugby league.

After a guy gets tackled, and the opposition is kinda lying on him, he starts to wiggle around and move his head up and down. It just looks ridiculous. Why do they do this. Its not like they're going to wiggle free and keep on running. ???

  1. It's to show that they are trying to get up to play the ball. If the defender holds on too long, they can often milk a penalty by doing this.

  2. They are trying to get the player that is on top of them off, they are showing the ref that they are ready to get up and play the ball

if they are doing this for ages they are milking it so they can get a penalty

they arn't trying to get the player off to start running again they are trying to play the ball...

  3. Milking

  4. LOL

  5. Dont know, but the blues just lost the state or origin 3 years in a row now, noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

  6. they are not wiggling they are trying to get the guy off the top of them without pushing and taking a chance of losing the ball. the faster they get him off them the faster the ball can be played and less time for the opposition to get on side and get ready for the next hit up.

  7. They are trying to con the ref into thinking they are being held down, however, if they put the same effort into getting to their feet the game would move on quicker.
