  1. Think and it will come to you.

  2. It saves  your tank air when you are going out to the spot and coming back in. I like to use it for a quick topside drift dive every so often.

It can also be used as a makeshift airway if you have to give somebody mouth to mouth in a water rescue scenario.

  3. for when they are on the surface, to save air

  4. Because when we arrive to the surface we use them to save the air in the tanks

  5. When swimming out to the actual dive spot, e.g. reef, wreck, wall, using your regulator would be a waste of compressed air. You could swim either with your head out of the water, holding breaths, or on your back, but actually looking down to see what's already below you has advantages. You could already spot something interesting swimming by, you can orient yourself and find the divespot much easier. In rough water a basic snorkel, one without clearing valve, can be used as a tool to administer breaths to an unconscious diver, in case of. The latter counts for trained Rescue Divers.
