  1. Seeds have certain chemicals and hormones that react to light, tempature, soil, and moisture levels. These chemicals tell the plant when to sprout in grow.

Tropical plants have few growth hormones to boss them around because the climate is so un variable.

While in deserts in climates the seeds have a hard coat of water-responsive hormones and plants with with hot and cold seasons there are many more to prevent the seeds from sprouting in frigid cold. Thats why you must pre chill certain seeds and soak seeds like peas and beans

  2. Is a marigold going to want to grow in the winter? No. Seeds wait until conditions are conductive to healthy growth.

  3. Dry Seeds have very little amount of water which prevents them from germinating but when soaked in water ,the cells absorb water and  the enzymes in them after getting a proper temperature(You know that all enzymes have a specific temp.for functioning) start acting upon  food material which has absorbed water and is in proper condition to be acted upon.
