  1. To get better distance with such a light bait?

  2. Casts baits farther and more control over a fish.~good luck catchin'.

  3. iam not a serious carp angler but in to days match fishing climate you have to fish for carp, the bigger the better. Ive had them up to 13lb fishing a 16 metre pole and loads of carp up to 6lb using the same method. they put up a brilliant fight on poles and feel loads better than rod fishing.

  4. you know what they say about people with big poles.... they have small......

    feet.

i think its for cast control and distance. also easier to maneuver fish away from weeds or brush piles with a longer pole.

  5. The longer rods, for what I know them as, are Spey Rods (fly fishin'). Haven't heard of any 20'ers, the longest I've seen be 15-16' but, I am not the utmost authority when it comes ta' them. Might add, the ones I've seen were bein' used mostly for Salmon. Don't think I've helped ya' out much but, look at it this way, it just be another FYI for your fishin' knowledge ;)... < ' ( (( > <

  6. Longer poles make it easier to cast bait without sinkers so that you can float the bait on the surface of the water, which is a technique commonly used for catching carp (particularly with hair rigs). It's not a method you absolutely need to use, as fishing on the bottom using sinkers will also work quite well on carp.
