Question:

Why do service-members have such disrespect for each other?

If you search the military category for a few minutes I'm sure you will find a pattern. Someone asks a question about a certain branch and members from other branches answer by saying something insulting. Aren't the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marine Corps fighting for the same country? Why do you disrespect each other? Every branch has its pros and cons. You shouldn't condescend just because you are proud of your branch. If everyone volunteers your own life for your country then bottom line you should respect each other. Equality people. 1. its not disrespect when it really comes down to it, you must not serve or you would understand

  2. Interservice rivalry. It's a friendly rivalry.

Hmm.. perhaps this ex-flyboy needs to speak slower and use smaller words so the swab-jockeys, grunts and jarheads can understand. :)

  3. That's all in good fun

Its the direct result of 99% Alpha male totalitarian society LOL

    Gotta have thick skin

  4. We all equally hate the Air Force because we are jealous of their luxurious standard of living!

  5. No, your bottom line is completely ignorant.  Why don't you try serving first and casting aspersions later.  We all do respect each other, we all like to rib on each other and say that each of us is "Tougher" or "Smarter" or "Better" than the rest.  It's really nothing serious, just relax.  It's hard for a civilian that has never served to really understand that.

  6. Its not disrespect its just how things are. Everyone joined the branch they believed in the most. There for they have their opinions on why that branch is better. They all realize they are important in protecting their country as a whole, but why not be proud of what branch you serve? Its just like anything else lets say different religions. All religions base purpose is for people to live a better life and have a better after life, but because they are different people say things that put down other religions. Its just the way things are, its nothing to really argue about.

  7. It's not disrespect it's a healthy rivalry, there is a great amount of respect for each.

  8. Same reason you thought your hight school was the best one and the other ones sucked..

Same reason you think your kids are the best..

Same reason you think your sports teams are the best and the others suck..

Its just human nature to think your the best..And for some few its called pride..

  9. It isn't what it looks like, at least from the uniforms.  Civvies can get violent over branches, but when two men start, both in uniform, it isn't bad, they're just bonding in their own ways.  I don't think I ever had a good weekend where two groups weren't competing about women, wine, or something, to prove who is better.  To look at 'em, you might think they would love to see each other die, but when they are carrying their opposites in their arms, they aren't crying for joy, but for loss.

Men are strange.  We bond by bragging, drinking, fighting, and hazing, and those bonds aren't broken easily.  That might be one reason why my sense of humor is taken wrongly so much of the time. :)

Not everyone volunteered their lives.  For a long time, there was a draft.  A lot of men didn't want to go, but they did.  I can't speak for today's warriors, but the old timers, they love this country more than words can say.  We don't like what is happening to America, but I can assure you that we would still die for what we believe in.  Guys from 'Nam were spat on and called names, but they still love the US and would die for their brothers.

If there is any disrespecting going on, it is the US for its VETERANS.  The vets are called crazy, sick, denied benifits, lied to, locked up, and just about anything you can think of, and yet, I think they would still defend American against anyone who would attack her.

When you hear someone pushing the Army over the Marines, which is my pick :), ask if they are ex-military or not.  If they are, find out what they really, really think of each other.  I think the Marines are crazy, overdressed, and get all the women, but they're a d**n fine service and the best to have at your back.  Me, I prefer Army, and I think we can do some damage ourselves, but, like you said, we need each other.  Army can hold ground, Marines can take it, and both lack a little upstair for running into guns instead of away from them, were sanity says we should. :)

  10. i have to agree with most everyone all services joke that they are the best but when it comes to a fight we will stand side by side

  11. Please don't lecture our service members. It's friendly rivalry among branches. It's not meant to disrespect anyone.

  12. Its a rivalry. Its all in good fun. get a sence of humor. Its like two sports teams, they hate each other when they are on the field, but friends off, same with the military. My branch is better then your. But in Iraq or Afghanistan se help and die for each other. Get a sence of humor you dumb ***. Good luck

  13. If no one insults the others, we live in a happy world where no one is willing to work hard for respect.

  14. Just watch two siblings argue, they can argue with each other all day, every day, but watch what happens when someone outside the family does it, they join forces and kick as*!  I am Army and make fun of Marines, Navy and Air Force all day, but won't let anyone outside the military do it.  Just friendly sibling rivalry is all.  Come to my family reunions and you will see some real arguments.  Myself and my father were Army Rangers, two of my brothers are officers in the Marines, my younger sister is an Army 1LT, and i have two cousins in the Air Force.  Always fun times at the dinner table.
