  1. It makes your core stronger, and makes you feel stronger when you run.  I do them and they make me feel tougher than the other guys during a workout.  Do them!

    Sit-ups and press ups are good exercises for any type of sport. They are particularly good because they build strength and not a great deal of muscle mass. These exercises work large muscle groups instead of individual muscles which helps keep the body upright and balanced.

    Will doing them dramatically affect your times? No.

    They are one of those things that can't hurt but can help.
