Why do slugs die when you pour salt on them?

  1. Found this interesting article... about slugs and their 'slime'.  The salt causes osmosis to occur.

    It causes all of the liquid on the inside of the slug...to go outside of it's body to replenish that slime.  They become dehydrated and die.


  2. Slugs breath out of their pours,and salt clogs the pours. so the slug dies of suffocation.

  3. the salt makes them dry out...all the water is gone from there body so they wither and dry out

  4. Because the salt dries their skin and it needs to be moist and the salt dries them out and it kills them. My question is, why would you want to put salt on a slug?  lol
