Why do slugs get all nasty and bubbly when you put salt on them?

I always see slugs that look like leopard on my front step after it rains....I kjow its wrong....but i have to put salt on them.....y do they bubble up...and do they die???

  1. Slugs are very moist and putting salt on them dries them up.


  2. They bubble up because, yes, they are dying. The slugs are made up primarily of water, and the salt quickly dehydrates the slug and kills it. Same with snails, salt kills them, too.

  3. Salt will kill them.  It melts there skin.  That's why u see bubbly.
