  1. Because the salt dries them up.

When you add salt to water it changes it properties.

Salt water freezes, boils, and evaporates at a lower temperature than fresh water.

A slug is a very moist creature and, like most creatures, consists of mostly water.

Adding too much salt to most living things causes dehydration and possibly death.

  2. Salt absorbs all of the moisture out of them and they dry out. (Dehydration for slugs)

It is kind of fun to watch them squirm, lol'. (:

  3. to make you ask why!

  4. because salt dries them out.

  6. The salt dehydrates them.

  7. Because they're supposed to be slimy and wet. Salt dries them.

  8. ...and after you put salt on em, put beer on them and they EXPLODE. =DD

  9. Yep i agree with nobody salt drys the slugs out meaning they shrivel up.

  10. salt is like acid to them, like during the winter salt is used to melt snow, but when you put it on the slug it will eventually burn it to death

  11. Because it takes all the moisture out of them and they dry out and die.

  12. Slugs are mollusks that require a moist environment. Salt draws water out of the slug's body, causing death by dehydration.
