  1. Nice stereotyping.

  2. A intelligent person would not ask this question.

Every person has their own interests. Chess, like most true strategy games, is played by those who like to use the imagination while solving puzzles. Those who like to see "two, three, five, ten even twenty moves ahead". Those who can master the art of strategy games can not only fill the time/dullness with thought but have the intelligence to use  wisdom they have gained through play. Those who play because they think they are smart, play with no wisdom. And those who don't like to play are using their wisdom to make an informed decision!

But that's just my informed opinion, and I love to play chess!

  3. You have to be patient and strategic inorder to play the game. if your not either of those you wont be able to win a game. and many ppl get lost at the strategic but those who either are playing another dumb person or get the strategy also tend to get caught at how long you actually have to sit and think and strategize causing long periods of nothing dullness where your just staring at the board or some1 else staring at the board trying to figure out what his move is. or you can just say the same reason that weak ppl tend to hate dodge ball.

  4. because most smart people like challenges

  5. why do dumb people ask stupid questions ..... are they bored?

  6. I think its interesting the people that seem to have a knack for chess.  Like this guy I worked with who was a total drunk and not too bright was very good at the game.

  7. its because dumb people always lose and smart people always win.

  8. maybe because dumb people can't understand the rules, or have the patience for a tactical game
