Why do snails melt when salt is added?

  1. this is the process called osmosis and when you add salt the movement of water goes from high concentrated place(the slug or snail...) to the less concentrated one...... this lowers the water gradient in the slug or snail.........so they melt( not literally)


  2. they dont melt literally.. the salt draws out the fluids from their bodies and dehydrates them

  3. I don't think it's snails. I believe it's slugs. and it's because they primarily consist of water. When you poor the salt on them it changes the concentration gradiant and pulls the water from the slug, giving the appearance of melting.
