  1. To check direction of the WIND ?

  2. like the above just through habit, i personally tap my left foot, its just makes them feel comfortable

  3. People watch pro's do it and think in some way if they copy their pool idol that they too will play like them too.

    NEVER HAPPENS!!

  4. To relax the other fingers making a stabler foundation for the trajectory of the shot.

  5. Some people have got all different kind of habits n twitches, i do see alot of people with all kinds of habits in my snooker hall, some are so funny n makes u want to laugh.

  6. concentrate,twitching

  7. For composure, concentration and habits etc. You will note not all players do this. Its like when rugby kickers hold their hands in front to compose themselves.

  8. to excite the ladies?

  9. It's to stay loose. Very similar to a golfer in the way they "waggle" before a shot. You want your mechanics to be tight but being too tight when you take your shot isn't a good thing.

  10. All concentration is on the table and no where else. The finger movement is the final go ahead (whether in snooker or regular 8-ball/9-ball tournaments), before taking your shot. Yes, professional players use different methods and gyrations vary, however concentration is needed to score the shot no matter what movement is made before taking the shot.  When you finally decide to take your shot... observe what gyrations you go through.....
