Why do so many americans.....

Question

Think that we peeps in Australia always say "Crikey" or "Gday Mate"

although we sometimes do. And why do they think that we wrestle crocodiles for a living, we are a civil and democratic society! We have cities! We have tons of technology!

Because in American society they are basically forced to think that way. It's always been like that in America, they stereotype every other country. But then again, almost every other country does the same to America, thinking everyone there is fat etc.

The group "Three Dog Night" came out of Austrailia so it has to be pretty nice.

haha. I believe because Steve Irwin, who was Australian, became a sort of 'icon' for Australia.

I think they base it off the popular shows like The Crocidile Hunter, and other Australian-based media.

True it is the TV, don't forget Crocodile Dundee. We have a restaurant called the Outback that also portrays this in their commercials and restaurants. I am sorry it's what we mostly see here. I am sure most people know that not everyone there talks that way. I think though the reason why it has been so embraced is because it sounds pretty cool. No offense intended. I think though most Americans would love to visit the down under.
