  1. It is a picked-up habit that has come to stay.

Your use 'Britannia' is picked from Urdu news bulletin and is not an English usage.

  2. many are patterned to the country's discoverer. or maybe, they are the names easy to remember

  3. It's just an english convention (in other languages these countries have different names eg: Australia = Australie in french). -ia is derived from the Greek or Latin and is a suffix that forms nouns; state of, condition of, quality of; act of. I don't know how it's meaning relates to countries...I guess that's just what english explorers decided and we've stuck with it.

  4. Generally, it's simply the influence of Latin on the English language.  That's a habit the Romans had.  Asia's not a country and 'Britannia' is the Roman version of Britain.

  5. because australia is s**y

  6. Because it was a coincedence.

............All the continents end the same letter they begin with....

    eg. ( I heard)

    -1 Australia

    -2 Asia

    -3 Europe

  7. it is just by chance
