Why do so many girls like to dismember Barbies?

Females, if you were to tear a Barbie apart, how would you do it? Where would you start?

I used to saw off their heads with a saw, but only because I saw it on "Welcome to the Dollhouse" when I was 10 and thought it was a cool idea.

After that, I would cut off it's hair and paint it black, then give it to my cat to play with as a toy.

I didn't really play with Barbie, I played with G.I. Joe and He-Man action figures.  If I did get a Barbie doll or something girly like that I would make them fight with my action figures.  Barbie was always much bigger than them and could really kick a**.   LOL

My barbies alway got their heads broken off by accident. I would try touch their feet to their heads to be a gymnast or I would step on them by accident. I used to be so sad and try to give them "surgery".Theres nothing like a no neck decapitated Barbie that gets her head put back on. They look kinda creepy afterward.

i'd start with the head.  my brother would take my baribe's and tie them to the celing fan by their head and turn the fan on. it was kind-of funny.

I've never done it on purpose, their heads just come off easily. However, myself and some friends were planning on making a video on Lollardy for a Medieval Religion module in which we had planned to burn barbies as heretics. How cool are we?!

My sister and I always liked to take things apart to find out how they worked.  That's why we took Barbie's head off - to look inside and see how they attached her hair.  The head is the only removable part.  What fun memories this brings back!

Oh, I forgot you can pull out the arms and put them back on.  It looks funny if you slide the arm down into the torso, so that Barbie only has a hand coming out of her shoulder.  Anything more, and you have ruined the doll, and your Mom will be very angry.

A lot of girls do it because they've outgrown them. I can recall doing it to my own dolls years ago. I used to set them on fire and then bury them.

Maybe the girls are already discovering that Barbie represents a false image of today's women. Girls are being taught at a very young age about good/bad body image and that they can't look like Barbie without starving themselves to death,liposuction, breast implants. Could be that they are expressing hostility about this.

I never did that.  My brother liked to rip off their heads, while I liked to make/sew my own clothing for them.  I was probably a bit confused at the time, but I did make Barbie and Ken do the nasty.  Weird stuff.
