Why do so many people argue about gymnasts outfits but not those of other athletes, such as runners and so?

I didn't know anyone really complained about what gymnasts wear.

To a very conservative person gymnasts are underdressed, as a former coach I remember a couple of ocassions where parents withdrew their children from gymnastics because of the scanty outfit.  However the only sport I regularily hear complaints about is womens beach volleyball and the main complaint is that the extremely scanty outfit is actually mandated by the governing body who seem to assume that people won't watch the sport unless the competitors are nearly naked.
