Because they beileve that once your dead you don't linger.

i believe in both. We have free will. Even in the afterlife. so if someone chooses to stay earthbound, then of course they would be a lingering spirit.

Spirits as in the souls of people who have passed for the most part goes against the teachings of many God believers... that is when it comes to their souls roaming the Earth... I think their impression is left behind, not their spirit... most of what we see as ghost I believe are angelic, demonic, an impression or simple energy... NOT dead people...

I've never been able to figure that one out.  The Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost is central to the religion.  That should pretty much clue them in.

hmm that's strange, if they believe in God, most likely they would also believe in the concept of "soul", etc. in my opinion souls and ghosts are one and the same no? i.e. lost souls and such

heck, Christians even believe in the holy ghost no?

Because once you die, you go to heaven or h**l, there is no "Ghost" option.

If there was, all those who were damned to h**l would say, "No! I want to be a spirit!"

There are, however, daemons, but they do not haunt or anything of the sort. They DO tempt, not like "Kill your wife." for no reason like on A Haunting, just sins that we commit daily.

Cuz believing in spirits is very ungodly...that's why. And frankly I don't BELIEVE in ghosts, but once I was in the shower and I saw this black shadow passing by me and I was scared to death...I think they may EXIST, but I'm not a believer of them

What are you talking about? Every Christian, Jew, and Muslim I know believe in ghosts. Scriptures in the Torah, Bible, and Quran all support the existence of ghosts and evil spirits. I'm a strong believer in God and even I believe ghosts exist.

Watch the Discovery Channel's "A Haunting" and you won't see a single episode that doesn't feature a Catholic priest or exorcist. Normally the priest/exorcist will release the spirit from the house so it will ascend to Heaven, or if it's an evil spirit they will release the spirit from the house so it will return to h**l.
