  1. i hate people doing this eww!, as u said it's lack of etiquette.

  2. Because they are disgusting pigs. Ask them politely if they'd mind awfully keeping their mouths closed when they chew. If they keep chewing open-mouthed, vacate the room whenever they're eating. Eventually, it should sink in that they have a choice: they can keep hanging out with their friend, or they can keep eating like a filth-monster with no manners.

  3. Depends on the culture they hail from.  In some countries, for example, it is considered rude if you don't slurp your noodles, spaghetti and soup at full volume.  In other cultures in this country, people simply eat with their mouth open.  It horrifies me and is a violation of one known etiquette standard.

However, if you were to advise them on it, you would be violating one of the most serious etiquette rule: never tell people they are violating an etiquette rule.  (there I've just done it myself!)

I've actually pulled people aside and asked your very question.  As diplomatically as possible, I'd ask "do you think they have ever done research on the amount of oxygen that reaches the tastebuds and how it proportionately affects the taste?"

Most of the time, it doesn't work.  That's why god invented the full-faced motorcycle helmet.

  4. many soldiers have died for my right to chew with my mouth open

  5. OMG don't you hate that? And the ones who do that also make those disgusting smacking noises, ugh. I prefer to eat by myself at home, cannot stand people smacking grunting and spitting their food all voer the place. My uncle used to come over and eat potato chips and spit bits all over the place, just gross.

  6. It's natural instinct. We are more like animals than we think. Seriously, when we were primitive, do you think it mattered if we ate with our mouths open?

  7. It's really not always a lack of manners.  A lot of people have allergies, or toothaches, dental work, deviated septums, colds, or simply can't chew something tough (like meat or asparagus) without opening their mouths all the way.

To get an idea of what they have to go through, try eating while holding your nose, or eating using only one side of your mouth, and you'll see how hard it is.

  8. shove a pig up their mouth that will work

  9. It does show a lack of etiquette training. My grandmother would have yelled at me if I chewed with my mouth open. You can tell them just be polite and say "Please don't chew with your mouth open, it is gross"

  10. I chew with my mouth open sometimes because there are times when it is hard for me to breath while chewing. Imagine how it feels for you to chew when you have a cold or are congested. That's why some people chew with their mouth open.

  11. 1. They are disgusting

    2. They have a bloked nose

  12. That is gross. I would tell them outright that its gross, and close your mouth!

  13. Maybe, sometimes some people are not aware that they're doing it.

    Thanks for asking.

  14. It is annoying, but everybody wasn't raised with the same idea of right and wrong. I agree with the person who outlined some of the physical problems that might result in somebody chewing with their mouth open.  I just try not to look at them when I'm eating.
